ABOUT THE BRAND

Born in London, England to Haitian immigrants, Jean-Baptiste amassed over a decade’s worth of experience as an international fashion stylist. With an innate desire to create something meaningful, Jean-Baptiste had a dream of developing a collection of luxury bags full of unique personality; both lively and chic — qualities uncommon within conventional brands.

In 2018 following a trip to her native country of Haiti, she was immediately inspired to do something that completely frightened her — design a brand of her own; acting from her core. With the help of a “little courage” — Petit Kouraj was born.

SUSTAINABILITY

In an effort to cultivate mindful consumption and greater transparency in fashion production, Petit Kouraj endeavors to evolve and adopt thoughtful practices.

We are passionate about using responsibly sourced materials and collaborating with workshops that support our values. Just as in life, we believe in the constant necessity to learn and evolve as we grow, we will continue to improve our practices.

PORT AU PRINCE, HAITI

An Ode To Home.

Petit Kouraj is a thoughtful collection of handbags that’s far more than a “brand”, it’s an ode to my lineage and culture. Since 2018, I’ve proudly partnered with women lead organizations in Port au Prince, Haiti who work closely with local artisans to provide community resources, education and vocational training. However, due to Haiti’s current political and economical climate, resulting in warring factions — we’re no longer able to manufacture our products safely and consciously. The safety of our employees is our number one priority and we want to ensure we’re doing everything possible to support peaceful resolutions to help rebuild the country's economy.

I believe that by temporarily shifting production, we can be part of a larger movement towards peace and stability. We want to continue producing our luxury handbags in a way that allows us to keep doing good work as an ode to the people near and dear to us in Haiti. That's why we've decided to continue working with local artisans from around the world whom we feel can make a positive impact on both the environment and communities through our work.

As a small business with great transparency, we vow to uphold our promise of ethically sourcing materials to create the highest quality of products that reinforce our values.

That, to us, is our definition of luxury.

With Appreciation,
